Unlicensed Diabetic Care Training

Per the Care act of 2011, schools are required to provide training to Unlicensed Diabetic Care Aides at the request of parents for children with diabetes. The Care Aides must be trained by a physician or Certified Diabetic Educator. It is recommended to register more than one staff member to account for absences or other circumstances.

This training will cover:

Signs and symptoms of Hypo- and Hyperglycemia
Diabetes Medical Management Plans
Blood Glucose Monitoring
Counting Carbohydrates
Calculating Insulin
Giving Insulin
Giving Glucagon
Record Keeping
