In this curriculum-agnostic, hands-on session, you'll experience two activities: (1) step into a student's shoes with a place value simulation with concrete representations, then (2) explore the additive thinking and multiplicative thinking learning progressions to help identify the mathematical asset that the student can definitely access. Walk away with two practical moves for any stuck learner: make the abstract concrete, or trace back through the learning trajectory to find the conceptual or procedural skill gap.
